Thought we’d book an extra holiday as we needed some sun! Rhodes provided the sun in spades; gorgeous weather all week with the thermometer hovering around 29°c every day. The reviews of the hotel were generally good though, as ever, intertwined with the usual complaints. From my perspective it was very good. The staff were friendly - shout out to Vasilis and Tania who looked after us all week. We stayed in a garden bungalow (room 545) which was a two-storey separate building in the gardens. We were on the upper floor. The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was well appointed, and the shower was superb - seriously, the water pressure, temperature etc were fantastic. The room had three single beds (two together as a double). It had a little fridge which great for putting bottled water in. There was a small kettle and tea making facilities. We brought our own tea bags (Earl Grey (🤪) and bought some milk from the local supermarket. Very typically British 🇬🇧 There was a small balcony with 3 chairs and a table. Great for sitting out in the morning/evening. The hotel grounds are quite luscious with lots of flowers, hedges, and palm trees. There is a small children’s pool and a main pool. Be aware, as with most hotels/resorts, the pools are not heated so can be a tad bracing on entry 😂 but you soon warm up. Pool opens at 10:30 in the morning and it has a lifeguard for most of the day. Maximum depth is 1.4m going down to 0.5m. The beach is mostly pebbles. Sun loungers near the beach are chargeable at €4 each. Loungers by the pool are free. As you might expect, they are often over subscribed. Other reviews have said they are worn out etc. but I thought they were fine - yes, a bit worn but what do you expect? New loungers every time? They worked- end of. Food and other facilities. Some reviews have been less enthusiastic about the food. I found it OK and thought there was a good range. It may appear a bit repetitive but overall, I thought it was fine. You get what you pay for. If you want 5* cuisine then just do breakfast and go to a swanky restaurant in the evening. Your choice. All areas were clean and tidy. There is a bar that opens in the evening as well as a small bar near the beach that serves food and drink during the day. We had a slight problem with air conditioning, but it fixed quickly. Overall, I found the holiday good value for the money (we booked via On The Beach). Downsides? You are close to the main airport, so you do get low flying airplanes on their landing approach (about 1200ft high). You get used to it but it can be a tad distracting. Big question is would I stay here again? Difficult one as I like to go to different places. But we had a relaxing break, great weather, good food and drink etc etc so, on that basis, a resounding yes! Hope that helps. PS don’t forget the insect repellent and bite cream! There are midges and they took a particular fancy to my legs 😂😂
